Choosing a babysitter you can actually trust

Ask about routine, not just availability. A good sitter wants to know bedtimes, allergies, screen rules and how your children handle transitions.

Ask for two references who hired them repeatedly. One-off jobs tell you very little.

Watch how they talk about difficult moments — tantrums, refusals, sibling conflict. Calm specifics are a very good sign.
